Meet Derek Jumper
As a partner at Bluewater Financial LLC, Derek Jumper helps retirees and pre-retirees work towards their financial goals to help them retire with the confidence of being able to travel, spend time with their grandchildren and enjoy life to the fullest. He is a licensed attorney at law in Tennessee, an Investment Advisor Representative, and an insurance producer. Additionally, Derek has passed the Series 65 securities exam.
Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Derek’s professional career has encompassed a number of paths that led him to where he is today. After graduating with honors from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, he worked in Washington, D.C., as press secretary for the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee. He also served as media director for the American Forest & Paper Association.
Derek’s most notable accomplishment living in the nation’s capital was meeting his wife, Johanna. The couple soon moved to Knoxville, where they both earned their juris doctorates at the University of Tennessee College of Law. They married two weeks after graduation and moved to Nashville. Derek practiced law and served as assistant attorney general for the State of Tennessee, but he still felt he hadn’t quite landed on the job he was meant to hold to do the most good.
In 2014, Derek joined his father in the financial services business, and Bluewater Financial LLC was born. The father-son duo and their team of financial advisors in Nashville proudly serve more than 250 active clients.
Derek and Johanna live in Nashville and are members of St. George’s Episcopal Church. They have a beautiful boy, Jackson, who attends St. Paul Christian Academy. They also have two golden retrievers, Belle and Traveller, who shed relentlessly! Away from the office, Derek is an avid trail runner and photographer. Johanna is a commercial real estate partner at Bradley Arant Boult Cummings.
Meet Jim Jumper
Since entering the financial services industry in 1990, and becoming one of the most reputed financial advisors in Nashville, Jim Jumper has helped hundreds of clients work towards their financial goals. A partner at Bluewater Financial LLC, Jim is a licensed insurance agent in Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama and Louisiana and has earned the Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) professional designation.
Jim was born and raised in Auburn, Alabama, and graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in economics. After college, Jim entered corporate management with Sears, which took him to Jackson, Mississippi. He then decided to follow his entrepreneurial spirit, opening the Schooner Restaurant, a full-service seafood restaurant and bar.
Seeking a change, Jim left the restaurant business and entered the financial services industry, where he discovered his passion for helping others live out their dreams. He served as a district manager for Mutual of Omaha, then for Mutual of New York. Before long, his entrepreneurial spirit took over again, and he launched his own financial services business.
Jim met his lovely wife, Rachelle, during college. The two have been married for nearly 50 years and have two children, Derek and Nicole. Jim loves to dote on his only grandchild, Jackson. He also enjoys supporting Auburn football, running half marathons and reading about World War II. Jim and Rachelle split their time between Nashville and Jackson.
